The people with the most at stake—the investors, the corporations, the nation-states pouring billions into this technology—are not behaving as if they are building a potential world-ender. They are behaving as if they are building a better spreadsheet. They are funding a tool to increase efficiency and gain a competitive edge. Their risk models are concerned with market share and quarterly returns, not existential threats.
